Premium-Blend is a consulting company that harmonizes people, processes, and platforms to build more effective social and digital programs. At Premium-Blend, employees create presentations daily: pitch to clients, inform colleagues and present on stage (live and virtually). That’s days of work they weren’t investing in what they are truly good at. And none was pleased with the result. PB’s creative director reached out to us to change that. And we did. Here’s how.

There’s no secret when I say templates speed up the creation of presentations. But for it to be effective, it has to be tailored to the company’s business needs and specific use cases. Hence, we started by analyzing all their presentations to determine why and how employees use slide decks. We’ve categorized the most commonly used slides into three types: general, internal, and external.

1. General: slides that can be met in all presentations.

2. Internal: used mainly when presented to teammates to inform and inspire.

3. External: client-facing slides meant to evoke interest or educate about a product or service.

These commonly used slides from each category became the foundation of the template.

Premium Blend didn’t have a clearly defined brand or visual direction set except for the logo, colors, and pattern. So we decided to explore the look and feel and developed four slightly different stylescapes with some sample slides included. We knew the presentation needed to be emotional, creative, and premium. We ended up with the mix of each.

PB’s team really liked the pattern, but it made everything look too boring and stock. We were looking into new ways of using it and decided to make a wild move. Transform it into a mascot. Basically, a brand character that evokes brand values and makes every slide look personalized. Where the mascot it’s a natural evolution of the bean. More fun, more alive, more present. We’ve called it bean (r)evolution.

The template has to speed up the process of delivering beautiful presentations. Once we had defined the layout and styles, we started to set up a slide master. This completely changes the gears for creating new slides. Instead of tiring days, they spend 15-30 minutes pulling together a needed presentation. Could you imagine? And the best part: it’s a lot of fun!

Keeping slides and presentations organized is quite challenging for a team bigger than two people. For this reason, we’ve also curated a guide to maintaining all presentation resources for everyone at Premium Blend. All brand assets (logos, graphs, colors, illustrations, scribbles, etc.) and instructions are within easy reach while giving each a proper home. It also has to be future-proof. Hence, the instruction includes a note about adding new slides when new use cases appear without ruining the slide deck itself.

Each of the slides has to look like from exact same presentation. But also unique, sexy, and exciting. That was a requirement, and that is what we delivered. Now the team combines illustrations with layouts and color alternatives to create beautiful slides while staying consistent, succinct, and on-brand.

We’ve provided the client with a lecture on how to use the template and also created ready-to-use layouts that can serve as completed slides or a reference.
